【英語多読】What is the European Union? ～イギリスが離脱した欧州連合ってそもそも何？～
どうもどうも、いちから英会話のヒカリノです。
色んな事が次々と起きている2020年ですが、1月にイギリスがついに欧州連合を離脱した事を知っていますか？
今週の英語記事では、そのイギリスが離脱した欧州連合が何なのかについて書きました。1回記事を読んでみて自分の力で意味を推測してから、下のボックスを開き、理解を深めていきましょう。
The European Union, or the EU, is like a big club. Twenty-seven countries from Europe are members of this club. It includes countries such as Spain, France, Germany and Italy. Until January 2020, the United Kingdom was a member too.
During World War 2, many countries in Europe fought against each other. When the war ended, people decided to form a group called a union. People hoped that if the countries worked together, they would not fight against each other in the future.
By forming the European Union, the countries became like one big country. All the countries follow the laws made by the EU. People who live in one country can easily travel or work in any other country in the EU. In addition, it is easy for businesses to sell products to other countries in the EU because they do not have to pay tax. Finally, almost all countries use the same type of money, the euro.

欧州連合、またはＥＵは大きいなクラブのような物です。ヨーロッパからの27ヵ国がこのクラブのメンバーです。このクラブはスペインやフランス、ドイツ、イタリア等の国を含みます。2020年1月までは、イギリスもメンバーでした。
第二次世界大戦の間、ヨーロッパの多くの国が争い合いました。戦争が終わった時、人々は団結というグループを結成する事にしました。国々が協力すれば、将来争わないだろうと人々は期待していました。
欧州連合を結成する事で、入っている国々が１つの大きな国のようになりました。入っている全ての国が欧州連合によって作られた法律に従います。１つの国に住んでいる人は簡単に他の欧州連合の国で旅行したり働いたりできます。また、税金を払わなくていいので、会社にとって他の欧州連合の国に商品を売る事がしやすいです。最後に、ほとんどの国が同じお金のユーロを使います。

書き上げる前にブレグジットが完了してしまい記事の需要が無くなってしまいましたが、調べている時に自分が欧州連合が何なのか正直分からないことに気づき、私と同じような人がいるのではないかと思ったので、これだけ上げる事にしました。
