【英語多読】That’s Japanese Food ～洋食の多くは、洋食じゃない？！～
どうもどうも、食べ物大好きないちから英会話のヒカリノです。
今週の英語記事では、日本で見る「洋食」について簡単な英語で書きました。1回記事を読んでみて自分の力で意味を推測してから、下のボックスを開き、理解を深めていきましょう。
Curry rice, cream stew, hayashi rice, omrice, napolitan, doria… These are all common ‘yoshoku’ dishes. Yoshoku means ‘Western food,’ so many Japanese people think that this food came from other countries. However, many popular yoshoku dishes are Japanese. Look at the dishes above. Which ones are from other countries? None of them are. All of these dishes were created in Japan. Even the curry that is popular in Japan is called Japanese curry in other countries. These dishes were influenced by Western cooking, but most popular yoshoku isn’t Western food. It’s Japanese food.
