【英語多読】Colorful Money ～オーストラリアのお金～

今日の英語記事はオーストラリアのお金について話します。日本のお金と比べて、どんなところが違ってて、どんなところが似ているでしょうか？1回記事を読んでみて、意味を推測してから、下のボックスを開きながら理解を深めていきましょう。
Australian money is very different to Japanese money. The notes are especially different. First, they are made from plastic, so they are okay even if they get wet. They also have see-through “windows”. Second, they are different colors. $100 notes are green, $50 notes are yellow, $20 notes are red, $10 notes are blue and $5 notes are purple. Third, they are different lengths. $100 notes are the longest and $5 notes are the shortest.
Meanwhile, Australian coins are only gold and silver, but they are much heavier than Japanese coins. They have pictures of Australian animals on one side and the Queen of the United Kingdom’s head on the other. One of the coins, the 50 cent coin, is not a circle. It is a dodecagon, which means it has 12 sides. The 50 cent coin is also the biggest Australian coin.
With colorful plastic notes and animals on the coins, Australian money is very unique.
